14 Indonesian Students of Ajou University (second part, final part, finally)

A long time ago, i wrote this with intention to briefly introduce my family here in Ajou University and also practice my english on writing. That was only the first part. There should’ve been another part, i promised that, but i’ve been postponing it for months. Now its time to finish what i’ve started.

To begin with, i’d like to inform u all that today some of those 14 people are already back in Indonesia (Sidum, Megan, Sasha) and 4 others will follow by the end of this month (Jamak, Siti, Tessa, Unggul) Back to the warmth and surrounded by delicious foods. Well, lets get started…

The last person of graduate student team, Qonita. She is my comrade, together we are the second term IT ISIP invitees from Indonesia. We studied Korean and English together (also featuring Tu, a Vietnamese) for four months before enrolled to Ajou University and be accepted as graduate student there. She is focusing on computer vision now, funded by the last IITA Scholarship.

I’ve introduced you with all graduate students here in Ajou University. For the second term, its time for the exchange students.

The first one is Megan, a business-oriented cooking-skilled narcissus-minded humor-loved student of Parahyangan Padjajaran University. With Mike he evolved into dormitory-class chief with some infamous recipes, such as Opor Ayam Kolaborasi. Another achievement he made was being a martial art entertainer in Ajou International Day 2008.

Second, Sasha. She is truly a public relation girl. Marvelous english ability, open and warm personality, great communication skill, plus broad social circle. Being the youngest from all of us, she often quarrelled with Sidum for unimportant trivial things. A consoling sight to see.

Last but not least, the IT ISIP Team. It consists of 4 males and 2 females, 4 informatics and 2 electrical engineers. Lets get closer..

Dina. She shares lots with me. Same university, same class, same major, same final project adviser, even same System Engineering grade (an A from Prof. Jon, what a lifetime achievement TT) We also live next to each other back in Cisitu Baru, Bandung. The only thing i dislike about her, she is better than me. She graduated first with higher GPA, she gets better graduate school, yet she is older (ruuun!!)

Made. A breath-taking dancer! Thanks to him we could show the international audience how sacred a Balinese dance is. He is also very good at singing, sport, and studying. Totally opposite with me. Another information, he will also stay in here Korea to pursue his master degree in Chung Ang University, though we are still not so sure whether he will study or work or do servitude there.

Siti. Frankly speaking, she is the most senior between all invitees. One thing for sure, she totally enjoys her life time here as IT ISIP invitee. A full time access of internet where she can freakingly download, stream, read, watch, and listen all that ‘oriental’ songs, mangas, movies, etc. Her english is a very good, a notable skill i’d like to mention. And the other thing that makes this journey much better for her: she can leave her old workplace and get some relax.

Tessa. Half Korean. He enjoys Korean songs and movies and dramas and TV shows a lot. I do believe that his Korean is the best among us 14 since he must be studying Korean because he loves it, not because he has to, just like the remaining others. He will certainly continue his study here though unfortunately he could not do it right now since he is still struggling with his final project.

Unggul. Another case of me, though I didn’t know it at first. I mean, he is as old as me but we enter the university at the same time, which is 2 years younger than normal. Already graduated, the only thing that prevented him to not apply for Korean University is a chance for better university. I sincerely hope the best for him. Btw, i heard that he is very skillfull at cooking.

Zamak. The undergraduate student other than Tessa. Just like the others, he enjoys his life in Korea (mostly because of the unlimited internet access, i believe) but dislikes the Korean Language Course itself, the one who actually brings us here. Trivial fact, last year he attended an international culture camp (or something) in Gwangju for his paper about Komodo Island. Too bad he didn’t send it over to CISAK.

Well, my homework is finished. By the end of this month, Indonesian student in Ajou will reduce to only 5 students. But a hope is coming from Spring semester exchange students from Parahyangan University. A bird said that there will be 9 or 10 of them. Sadly, the IT ISIP program stopped so no new invitee next semester. Also, two GSIS girls are planned to finish their study and leave Korea perhaps in April. How about a new GSIS student? Some said that there will be one. Lets see…
